The world-renowned work of the prominent avant-garde architect Adolf Loos (1870–1933).
One of the most important monuments in the Functionalist style not only in the Czech Republic, but worldwide. Built for First Republic businessman Ing. Dr. František Müller, the villa was designed by Adolf Loos (1870-1933), an Austrian of Czech descent. The most important legacy of his work is the concept of Raumplan - the partition of internal residential space into a system of vertical levels that fully respected the purposes of particular rooms. These principles were implemented to the full in the Müller Villa, which is generally regarded as Loos' masterpiece
Nad Hradním vodojemem 14/642, Prague 6
(Podskalská celnice na Výtoni)
The customs house building at Výtoň was bought by the New Town in 1561 for the purposes of collecting tolls from wood floated down the river. It is a 16th century Gothic building with a timber-framed upper floor. The taxation rights of the New Town are still recalled by the New Town arms of 1671 above the entrance. In 1833 the house was sold to a private owner and over time became the famous inn "U Koppů", which together with the nearby inn "U Hejduků" was the main focal point for river sailors and rafters in Prague. At the time that old Podskalí disappeared it was possible to save the historic building, but with the loss of its natural customer base the inn began to slide and the house gradually fell into ruin, amongst other things due to the raising of the surrounding terrain. As early as at the beginning of the 20th century a "Podskalí Museum" was considered for the site, and in 1939 the town gave the former Customs House into the care of the City of Prague Museum. The first exposition was opened here in 1947, and new installations followed in 1960, 1966 and 1989. As late as during the 1970's the house was partially residential. Today, the Customs House and a nearby oasis of buildings are all that remains of old Podskalí.

INVITATION TO MUSEUM KAMPA
Special atmosphere, uniqueness of art collection, spirit of an avant-garde world.
SOVA'S MILL
Museum Kampa owes its existence to the well-known Czech-American art lover, Mrs. Mladek, and the fulfillment of her vision to transform the historical Sova Mill complex into a museum for Central European modern art, which could publicly exhibit and preserve her bequest to the city of Prague of the unique art collection that she and her late husband, Jan Mladek, collected over their lifetime. Jan and Meda Mladek believed that culture is the basis for a nation's survival. For many years they supported and promoted artists who were persecuted, exiled or driven underground during the communist era. They were active, knowledgeable and enthusiastic collectors, assembling a comprehensive art collection for posterity, which opened to the public in 2003 in the unforgettable setting of the newly restored landmark Sova Mill, located on the bank of the Vltava River in Kampa Park.
